Review of the Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 2 Golf Shoe
Rory McIlroy, three-time FedEx Cup champion (opens in a new tab) is currently one of the most exciting players to watch on the PGA Tour. But he is also one of the most stylish. As a Nike brand ambassador, the Northern Irishman is regularly seen on the tour sporting some of the Oregon-based sportswear brand’s best gear, including the highly popular Nike Air Zoom golf shoes. Victory Tour 2. Interestingly, the four-time major winner played an important role in the design of this golf shoe, with Nike taking data from McIlroy’s swing to gauge how they could work more traction into the outsole of the shoe. .
So if the best player on the PGA Tour wears them, then surely we had to see what it was, right? Are they one of the best golf shoes (opens in a new tab) the low? Well, after spending time on the course wearing the Victory Tour 2, it was clear to see why McIlroy chooses them over many other fantastic deals Nike has on offer (opens in a new tab).
So, what did we like about the Air Zoom Victory Tour 2 shoes? Well, let’s start with the aesthetics. They strike the perfect balance for those looking for a sporty look but also want to stay stylish on the course. Simply put, these shoes look fantastic and come in a variety of colorways that combine well with the sleek profile of the shoe to give it a sophisticated look. We loved the soft leather upper of this shoe, which was soft, lightweight and completely waterproof, making it a fantastic golf shoe to wear when things get wet on the course (opens in a new tab).
Also, comfort is exceptional here, especially if you like a little extra support around the ankle as they have extra cushioning on the topline, which we were grateful for when walking on uneven surfaces. during testing. One thing we found a little odd was the mesh interior of the shoe, something we haven’t seen before in many other models. best spiked golf shoes (opens in a new tab). While the interior doesn’t take away from the overall comfort, it does mean you have to be careful when putting them on so you don’t damage the material.
This leather upper is stitched directly to a Zoom Air unit on the sole of the shoe, which gives the Victory Tour 2 a very sporty feel but makes it incredibly soft underfoot. While some golf shoes need to be worn before reaching their maximum comfort, we found that was not the case here. The Zoom Air unit offered great feel and excellent stability right out of the box and we loved the addition of the shock-absorbing React foam cushioning on the heel which kept our legs feeling relatively untired in the last stages of our tour.
The Victory Tour 2 also comes with a seven-way stud system on its sole which took some getting used to, especially if you usually wear golf shoes without spikes (opens in a new tab) As I do. But after wearing them for a few holes, we noticed how much grip these shoes provided. While ground traction is great on most shots on the course, these shoes really delivered on some softer lies, where we used the stud system to plant a solid base and rip the ball.
While their grippy outsole makes the Victory Tour 2 a great winter golf shoe (opens in a new tab), we were skeptical about the ease of cleaning, especially in the React foam areas. But that concern was quickly put aside, as we found that they wiped clean quickly and mud could be brushed off the cleats without too much hassle. All in all, we can see why these are McIlroy’s favorite golf shoes. Offering style, comfort and performance, we felt these shoes had all the bases covered for what we would expect from a premium spike golf shoe. For this reason, they are a fantastic option that can be used in both winter and summer.
